Why should I steam clean my carpet as opposed to other methods?
At the outset, keep in mind, many carpet manufacturers will not honor carpet
warrantees if you use any method other than steam (“hot water extraction”). This
speaks for itself. Steam cleaning performed by trained and skilled-operators
is the most prevalent method for carpet cleaning. Rotary steam cleaning is an
even further advancement upon the most widely used wand steam cleaning. By not
leaving any residual cleaning chemicals or products in the carpet pile as with
all other methods, there is no residue in the carpet to attract soil with steam
cleaning.
How long will the carpet take to dry?
Carpet will feel noticeably damp following the cleaning. There is a belief that steam cleaning will saturate carpet and cause mold. As with everything, if steam cleaning is performed by unqualified personnel, improper equipment set-up and usage can leave excessive moisture in carpet and provide the environment for water-borne microbial activity to grow. Can you fill my warrantee need for the annual cleaning required to maintain my new carpet warrantee?
Yes, Jeffrey Harvey Carpet, Tile & Furniture Care is an IICRC “Certified Firm”. With that, you will be provided with a “Certificate of Professional Cleaning” to be filed with your warrantee to prove you have maintained the carpet in accordance with the warrantee agreement.
Can you remove all stains/spots?
Under situations where the stain/spot has not been chemically-altered by initial removal attempts, most stains/spots can be removed. The best thing to do in the event of an accident is nothing. Working on a “virgin stain/spot” permits the technician to perform normal removal procedure on a non-chemically altered accident.
What should I use for my stain/spot removal?
As a general rule, homeowners should continue using whatever product they feel works well for them. However, if there are no products currently in use, for isolated common spots, fresh club soda is a safe bet without causing any undue “setting” concern. If more advanced accidents occur such as petroleum-based, make-up, bodily accidents etc, contacting a certified cleaning professional is highly recommended to avoid causing a permanent eye sore.
Will I see stains/spots return?

What safety concerns are there with this process?

of any sort, it is recommended to remain in a removed section of the home during the pre-treatment step only. Prior to the actual steam cleaning, a high pressure soil release product is applied to the carpet. Once the rotary steam cleaning commences, there are no further airborne concerns.
Is it possible to apply a protector following cleaning?
Yes, protective applications are available.
How soon after the clean can we walk on it?
As long as you wear the booties provided to you after the clean, the carpet can
be walked immediately after the cleaning. Keeping in mind, when walking off of
the damp carpet onto any hard surface flooring (tile, laminate flooring, wood
flooring etc.) special safety is needed to avoid slipping and falling due to the moisture.

How well does steam cleaning work?
Unless your tile and grout is noticeably soiled, I do not recommend steam cleaning. Keep in mind, for routine cleaning, most clients use hot water and vinegar and have very good results. Steam cleaning is an aggressive method for cleaning your tile and yields incredible results.
How long does it take to dry?
Following steam cleaning, ceramic tile is dry within 30 minutes. Being porous, the grout will take several hours to dry and will lighten as it dries.
Is it possible to seal the grout following steam cleaning?
Yes, in fact, sealing grout is highly recommended to provide a liquid-proof barrier to maintain the beautiful appearance of the grout.
Can you steam clean ceramic tile with stained or painted grout?
Steam cleaning systems are designed to operate at a high pressure. At this pressure,
there is a strong possibility damage will occur to the stained or painted grout.
Therefore, it is not recommended to steam clean stained or painted grout.
Furniture
How long does furniture take to dry following cleaning?
In general, synthetics dry very rapidly, one to three hours is very common. Natural
fabrics such as cotton, wool and silk will generally take a few hours longer
depending on the degree of soiling.
